This pilote episode of "Earth, Ltd ", our new series on Natural Disasters, is the diary of an unusual eruption of Bardarbunga, an Icelandic volcano which lies underneith the largest glacier in Europe. By gradually melting its roof top, the volcano threatens to create a Jokulhaup, the Icelandic word to describe the "fast ice melting floods". Bardarbunga puts the entire country on Red alert during serveral months, creates more toxic So2 gaz than the industries Western Europe, and floods the plains under sheets of lava which could have carpeted London under 5 cm of melted rock.
Director Jacques BEDEL (see photo herewith) and his UHD camera braved the elements to bring back this beautiful and revelatory film on a rare geological event.
